Campusalam is brought to you by the Lokahi Foundation. It is a programme to provide university students and staff with a wide range of knowledge, skills and advice to support activities and engagement on campus in matters of their faith. It aims to;
- provide a balanced and broad range of information on Islamic history, practices and teachings to allow principled, constructive and critical debate on matters of interest to Muslims and non-Muslims – some of which can be contentious to raise and difficult to openly discuss.
- empower students and staff with the techniques and skills to engage more effectively with each other on these and other challenging matters. This includes the skills needed to run successful meetings and events, how to challenge others in a constructive manner and how to de-escalate difficult situations if they arise.
- offers specific advice on dealing with a number of scenarios that staff and students may encounter within the campus environment, including pursuing requests for prayer rooms, halal food, and advice concerning radicalisation and extremism.
Campusalam has been developed following wide consultation with key stakeholders, scholars and experts in the Muslim community and from those who will use the resource for example between Muslim students, students of other faiths and university staff to seek views on the content to ensure it is factual and balanced. It is therefore tailored to meet needs directly, and provides practical guidelines and mechanisms to address concerns and requirements
