Ever had a brilliant idea but never got to share it?
FlashPODtalk gives you a way to record your conversation and share it with others in the Campusalam community. Your ideas can spark discussion and action all over the net and all over the UK.
What makes a FlashPODtalk unique?
Uninterrupted time: The speaker holds the talking stick and cannot be interrupted. A listener may only become a speaker after having summarized correctly what the speaker has said. This way the discussion is based on a clear understanding of the position of each participant.
Sharing the discussion: A blogger captures the main points of the debate and adds in her/his own. A photographer/videographer takes pictures or video clips. All this material goes directly on the Campusalam website and becomes a part of the discussion online.
Inviting others to share: Flash talk mobs should be held in a public place where students hang out. You can bring others into the discussion, from curious onlookers to friends who just happen to walk by.
Roles
Speaker: expresses an opinion for 1-2 minutes uninterrupted on a controversial issue
Listener: listens carefully to speaker’s opinion, then summarizes the speaker’s main points; after speaker confirms that the listener summarized correctly, then the listener becomes the speaker.
Facilitator: keeps the conversation moving, ensures that speaking and listening are happening, asks provocative questions; brings other people into the debate; helps with summarizing the arguments
Blogger (with computer): writes down summary of what each speaker says in document file or directly on CS blog; writes personal thoughts and opinions
Advertiser (optional, can be the facilitator): passes out CS literature; brings other people into the debate, gets email addresses so they can join the CS community
Photographer/Videographer (optional): Grabs the conversation on video or audio. Puts clips up on YouTube to go with the blog.
