The President of the United States of America has addressed the Muslim World yet again - recently he offered his hand of friendship to the Global Ummah whilst speaking in Egypt and today directly from the White House he sends the same message but with an added special note to Ramadan.
Barack Obama has made for many debates since his taking of office - not least our fabulous Student Panel at the Rumble in Westminster (an amazingly succesful event).
What do you think of the Presidents message? Watch it - and Comment on campusalam.
Greetings of peace... One thing I must say, I heard his speech in Cairo as well and to tell the truth i turned away from the TV taking it to be an open act of hyppocrissy. (more below) His words of Ramdhan, to my surprise are laboriously eloquent and profound in significance. He looks as if a man focused towards truly ushering a new beginning. One thing I'd like to say is about "Personality" rather. Persona, the word responsible for the word "personality" in itself actually means a covering or guise. Even in our world its hard to judge the innate lives of people just by seeing or hearing them talk. God knows best. As for Barrack Obama, I must close my eyes (in humble devotion to Allah), and pray for that desperately needed beginning. whether he (Obama) walks towards it or not, we must relentlessly and wisely, for the world needs it, doing whatever we can, with the best of our spirit and concern... Because we Muslims as a people are supposed to be the people and are gifted to be the people with highest level of moral principles. When Allah SWT created man, He told to the angels, "I am going to appoint Caliph on earth"... That is what we are. Caliphs. Each of ours actions means so much to the dignity of our soul and to the keeping of this planet, its people, its diversity and all the beautiful gifts we have been endowed with, Our planet is like a couch (in the Quran), it is the most foolish (or lost) of people who plunder their own couch.
