Eat Of The Good Things

This is an exciting new project that gives an opportunity for 20 young Muslims to connect with issues of food production and the environment.

Salaam All!

I wanted to bring your attention to a new initiative we have just launched entitled ‘Eat of the Good Things’. This is an exciting new project that aims to give an opportunity for 20 young Muslims to connect with issues of food production and the environment.
At the heart of the project is our desire to instil in these volunteers a greater understanding of local and global issues of environment, food production, animal welfare, health and sustainable living. The 20 volunteers aged 15-25 will be given the practical skills and knowledge to become active campaigners and ambassadors for change in their communities.

Why not apply?

Amongst other things, volunteers will partake in monthly practical sessions at Spitalfields City Farm (http://spitalfieldscityfarm.org) to learn about issues of food production. Volunteers will also undertake a number of hands-on visits, including a visit to Willowbrook Organic Farm. During this project you will be learning about Islamic teachings regarding the environment, food production, and all the other issues mentioned above. You will also be given support to develop and run your own 3 month mini-project on an area related to food and environment which reflects your own interests.

For more information on the project please visit http://www.eatgoodthings.org.uk/ .
