Skills Toolbox > Organising Events > Activities & Formats > Activities and formats that don’t need speakers

There are many things you can do that don’t require you to invite (and pay) outside speakers. Some of the models above can be used if you adapt them a little.

The Debate, ‘Moral Maze’ or ‘Citizens’ Jury’ formats can be adapted in a more casual and less labour-intensive way. If you pick a topic that doesn’t require professional expertise but grows directly out of your group’s experience, you can provide experts on that question from amongst yourselves.

All the following links at left provide formats and structures you can use if you don't want to get in expert speakers:
World café
Poster conversations
The Game of Life
Sticker voting
Elevator Speech
Elevator Question
