Consider getting your audience or participants to give you feedback on your event. You can design a simple feedback or evaluation form.
Tips on designing an evaluation form:
- Keep it simple. The shorter and easier to fill in, the more likely people are to do it.
- What do you most want to know about? The content of the programme? The practical or organisational aspects? The experience – enjoyable and pleasant, or boring and uncomfortable?
- Make a mix of ‘closed’ and ‘open’ questions. ‘Closed’ questions get a yes or no, or tick a box. They are quicker and take less thought and people are more likely to do it. ‘Open’ questions are open-ended, people have to write their own words in a space or box. They can yield more information, suggestions and ideas but some people won’t bother.
Consider more than just ‘yes’ or ‘no’ – maybe a ‘don’t know’. Consider a scale such as:
- excellent – good – okay – not good – poor
- strongly agree – agree – don’t know – disagree – strongly disagree
Remember you will need people to hand it out and collect it in!
