Jonathan Smith and Yasmeen Akhtar of Campusalam, a multi-faith charity ‘helping students build bridges’, will facilitate a ‘World Café’ event through round table discussions and activities.

‘Faith and Belief: Tolerance or Extremism?’

Jonathan Smith and Yasmeen Akhtar of Campusalam, a multi-faith charity ‘helping students build bridges’, will facilitate a ‘World Café’ event through round table discussions and activities.

This is an informal event and participants will explore together relevant issues of faith and belief at Birkbeck through discussion, art and storytelling. What will emerge are the diversity of opinions and the shared values that motivate us all.

The purpose of the event is to engage students and staff in a collaborative exploration of the issues around faith and belief, particularly on the controversial issue of tolerance and extremism.

We will record reflections and discussions to improve our understanding of the concerns and issues and consider how these will feed into our diversity agenda within the Birkbeck community.
