The Holy Quran

What is the Qur'an? What is its signifcance?

The Qur'an (which in Arabic means 'recitation') is the sacred scripture of all Muslims, which is believed to be the actual word of God that was revealed to the Prophet (pbuh) in stages through the Angel Jibril (Gabriel).

The Qur'an is the supreme authority in Islam. It is the first source of belief, practice, ethics and law; the Muslim way of life. Recitation of the Qur'an is the basis of daily prayer and much of Muslim spiritual life.
