Get informed and get active.
Sometimes having a guest speaker doesn't leave you enough time to discuss the issues in depth yourselves.
You can arrange discussion events of a 'one-off' kind in a more imaginative range of formats and kinds of activity than the standard 'lecture-and-questions' format.
- Simple discussion of issues raised in the talks, or discuss questions you provide
- Convene to solve a problem or reach a conclusion and report back
- Perform a specific task which you set them based on material from the talks
- World café
- Make a poster for a poster conversation
- Devise an Elevator Speech or an Elevator Question
- Do sticker voting
- Think of or write a story that metaphorically illustrates a situation, a problem, or a possible solution
These are discussed in more detail here.
