Copy from Camera to Computer

It is better to edit your video on your computer than on your camera. Here's how to make the move.

Many cameras provide their own software for editing and uploading video. We want you to be able to edit video no matter what camera you are using.

For our Creative Vado users, here is a step-by-step guide to copying your videos from your camera to your computer. It is best to save everything in the same directory so you can find it later!

Another method that can work on Windows computers for any camera that is connected to your computer with a USB (like a Creative Vado or Flip Camera) is this:

  • Open My Computer (click Start, My Computer) -- It is just called Computer in Windows Vista.
  • Right click on the Icon for your Creative Vado Camera (usually an E or a D drive) and select Explore.
  • Open the folder called DCIM.
  • Click through until you see video files.
  • Copy and paste them to the video folder on your computer (often it's good to use My Videos but really any folder you want).
