Editing in iMovie

iMovie sets the standard for free video software editing. If you have a Mac, you have iMovie. Here's how to use it to import, edit and save your video project.

As usual, Apple is ahead of the game with an excellent range of movies explaining how to do basically everything in iMovie '09.

In addition to those resources, here are some of the basic elements, using videos from our friends at freevlog.org.

1. Update iMovie and import video files.

Note to Creative Vado Users: If you have a Mac computer, the Creative Vado needs to install a special driver in order to move your movies to iMovie. See this tutorial for instructions on getting Vado movies to work on Mac computers and importing to iMovie.

2. Basic Editing in iMovie

3. Export and Archive your iMovie project

4. Compress Your iMovie for the Web

To tie it all together, take a look at the unusual YouTube lady as she explains iMovie in less than 3 minutes.

By now you should have a movie ready to upload to the web.
