Preparing Your Story

Before you film, it helps to prepare your story. This tutorial looks at elements needed to make a story worth watching.

preparing your story

Start by watching this video on gathering elements for your story from our friends at freevlog.org at http://freevlog.org/content/how-tell-story-gathering-elements. You can also watch the story on home births that was filmed at http://freevlog.org/content/home-birth-diy-labor-and-delivery-short-version .

You will notice that a few important elements of gathering a story were mentioned in the video:

  • Doing Research
  • Gathering Interviews
  • Preparing Locations

Now let's watch some videos of community projects, a bit like the vid you are going to be making. Both use similar cameras and ideas to what we want to do at Getting the Word Out.

This one is about building a skate park in Peckam:
