Risk Assesment

  • This basically means imagining what might go wrong and what to do to prevent it, or mitigate it if it happens. It can become more fancy if you assess how likely it is to happen and how bad it would be if it did. A sample spreadsheet is on the right.Heath and Safety

Health and Safety

Check with your university or your venue about any health and safety requirements or problems.

Consider these areas if they are relevant, and take action if necessary:

  • Safe access
  • Hazards for slipping, tripping, falling (including getting onto the speakers' platform)
  • Fire exits, access to them, and how well marked they are
  • Insurance liability, who is responsible, and is there cover
  • First aid equipment and a trained or responsible person
  • Any risks or hazards associated with particular activities you will be doing
